61% of all Americans want more government oversight of social media. 66% want mandatory age verification laws. This poll cuts across every party line in American politics. And nothing has been done.
Democrats at 71%. Republicans at 62%. Independents at 52%.
All majorities. All pointing the same direction.
On age verification specifically it gets even cleaner. Republicans at 74%. Democrats at 69%. Only 11% of all adults disagree entirely.
When 89% of Americans either support or are neutral on mandatory age verification for social media, you have the rarest thing in modern American politics.
A consensus.
The Senate just voted unanimously against the SBF pardon. The Clarity Act is building bipartisan support through the Gallego-Tillis ethics compromise. And now 4,505 Americans surveyed across party lines just produced the most lopsided bipartisan polling result of the year.
On protecting children from addictive platforms.
The platforms themselves have testified before Congress. Released internal research showing they knew about mental health harms. Updated policies incrementally. Added parental controls that most parents do not know how to use.
None of it matches what 61% of the country is asking for.
More government oversight. Mandatory age verification. Actual accountability.
The Clarity Act debate is consuming Washington's attention because $15 trillion in institutional capital is pushing for it. BlackRock, Franklin Templeton, and Michael Saylor are making the case publicly every day.
The social media regulation debate has 85% of American parents behind it.
And it cannot seem to get a floor vote.
That gap between where the money lobbies and where the public polls is the most honest description of how Washington works in 2026.
