Selling Cash-Secured Puts (a “Put”) is the best “rent collection + bargain-hunting” model when you believe in a stock but think the current price is too expensive.

Take SPCX as an example.
I don’t want to chase at the current price, but I’m willing to get in around $60.

So I sell:
SPCX 2027/6/17 $60 Put

Sell price: $4.70
Time to expiration: 315 days
Strike price: $60
Breakeven point: $55.30
One contract corresponds to 100 shares:
Cash secured: $6,000
Option premium received: $470
If the broker allows collecting U.S. Treasury yields around 4%

Simple annualized return: about 13%

That’s why I like this strategy:
If the stock goes up, I collect rent (premium). If it goes sideways, I still collect rent. If it drops to my ideal price, I buy at a low cost.

But there’s only one condition:
This must be a stock I would genuinely be willing to hold long-term anyway.

Selling Puts is not a guaranteed principal-protected investment.
Its risk is: if the fundamentals worsen and the share price crashes, I still have to buy the shares at the agreed price.
