Digital RMB International Operation Center Signs Direct Participant Service Agreements with 26 Financial Institutions
On June 16th, the Digital RMB International Operation Center signed direct participant service agreements with the first batch of 26 financial institutions in Shanghai, marking the official launch of the cross-border settlement comprehensive service platform CBETS for large-scale access and commercial operations.
This platform integrates three major business platforms: cross-border digital payments, blockchain services, and digital assets. It supports interconnectivity with various monetary authority payment systems and allows financial institutions direct access, providing 24/7 smart digital payment services.
The signing institutions include: ICBC Asia, Bank of China Hong Kong, and China Construction Bank Asia, which are overseas branches of Chinese banks, as well as Standard Chartered China and other foreign banks, covering regions such as Hong Kong, Macau, Singapore, Laos, Thailand, UAE, Qatar, and Brazil.
Notably, CBETS boasts advantages like low access costs, high settlement efficiency, and strong system compatibility. It can handle retail scenarios such as QR code payments and tap-to-pay, as well as wholesale transactions like remittances, trade, and investment financing settlements.
The concentrated access of these institutions will fully leverage the capabilities of the CBETS platform, providing the market with secure, efficient, and low-cost cross-border digital payment services. This will enhance cross-border trade and investment activities, driving a high-level opening of the financial sector.
In the future, the Digital RMB International Operation Center will continue to expand its participant roster, improve platform functions, and enhance the international comprehensive service capabilities of the digital RMB.
