Most AI projects talk about smarter agents. Kite AI is working on a different problem: how can an AI agent pay for services, prove its identity, and operate without giving up the user's control?
That is the part of Kite I find worth watching.
Its Agent Passport gives an AI agent a verifiable identity and a funded wallet. Users can set spending limits, while agents can make payments within those permissions. Imagine an agent paying for API access or buying a digital service without asking you to approve every small transaction. That is the use case Kite is trying to build.
Recent activity also shows that the project is moving beyond its core idea. On October 21, Kite joined Ankr Forge Heat 2, where participants can create, fund and use Agent Passports while completing missions for Forge Points. On October 23, Kite announced its role as a track partner in OpenServ's SERV Hackathon 02, bringing its agent payment infrastructure into another developer-focused initiative.
But partnerships and campaigns are only the beginning. The bigger question is whether developers will build useful agents and whether those agents will generate real payment activity. Without regular usage, even good infrastructure can struggle to create lasting value.
There is another date to watch: November 3, when a KITE token unlock is scheduled. CoinGecko lists 640 million KITE, or 6.4% of the maximum supply, for release. An unlock does not automatically mean selling, but it makes supply and market demand important to monitor.
Kite has a clear problem to solve, a working product concept and recent ecosystem activity. Now, adoption needs to catch up with the idea.
