A verified Bitcoin vault is not automatically valid borrowing collateral.

That distinction is what I’m focusing on with Trustless Bitcoin Vaults from BabylonLabs_io.

In the current public testnet design, TBV verifies the native BTC vault and tracks its Bitcoin-side state. The connected lending application separately decides whether that active vault can support borrowing under its own collateral and risk conditions.

To me, these are two diferent questions:

Verification asks: does this vault exist in the required state?

Eligibility asks: what is this vault currently allowed to support?

Confusing them can make the system appear simpler than it really is.

A vault may remain cryptographically valid while the lending position becomes unhealthy because of price movement, collateral limits, or application-level rules. The Bitcoin has not suddenly become invalid—the financial use built around it has changed.

That separation is important because it prevents “secure vault” from being treted as proof that every connected loan is also safe.

I think TBV becomes easier to evaluate when each layer answers only the question it is responsible for.

The vault proves the Bitcoin position.

The application decides how that position may be used.
