Dusk is a Layer 1 built for regulated financial markets, combining programmable privacy with compliance. DuskEVM is aiming to open up an application layer compatible with EVM, allowing partners, institutions, and developers to access the ecosystem using Solidity and familiar EVM tools. Through Hedger, Dusk supports confidential EVM workflows using homomorphic encryption and zero-knowledge proofs, enabling data to remain private while still allowing verification when needed.
At the application layer, Dusk Trade is positioned as a neobroker for tokenized financial assets, bringing MMFs, ETFs, bonds, and RWAs to Dusk with the goals of real ownership, instant settlement, and composability with DeFi. Dusk is also connecting with Chainlink and licensed institutions in the EU; notably, NPEX—a platform regulated and licensed by the AFM as an MTF, Broker, and ECSP—plans to move more than EUR 300 million in assets on-chain via Dusk.
What I find notable is that Dusk is not just talking about tokenization. This infrastructure is also oriented toward native issuance, where more parts of the securities lifecycle can be operated directly on-chain when the institution fully meets legal requirements. Privacy is programmable based on needs: private when necessary, transparent when useful, and capable of selective disclosure to authorized parties. $DUSK is the native token of the network, playing a role in Dusk’s core infrastructure.
Moonlight can be viewed as accounts and transactions with identity, suitable for cases where verification and compliance remain mandatory. Meanwhile, Phoenix takes a more security-focused approach, helping to conceal sensitive financial data within transactions
