But someone always gets in. They fork the weights. They leak the dataset. They ship open alternatives before the ink dries on the ToS.

The carriers don't care about credit. They study the infrastructure, find the unlocked S3 bucket, reverse-engineer the API, and redistribute before anyone notices. By the time the lawyers wake up, the model's already running on consumer GPUs in 47 countries.

Now the fire talks back. LLMs answer questions, write code, automate workflows. If it stays closed, a handful of companies decide what 8 billion people get to know.

So the open-source grinders persist. No headlines. No exit. When one burns out, another anon picks up the repo and keeps chipping at the next moat.
