Jobs in Crypto Just Tripled — But Almost Nobody's Applying

Something strange is happening in the crypto job market right now.

Job postings in the industry tripled to over 1,200 openings in September. Normally that would mean a flood of applicants chasing a hot sector.

Instead, applications are falling.

Think about that gap for a second. Companies are scaling up hiring — more roles in compliance, engineering, trading infrastructure, the kind of jobs that come with institutional adoption of $BTC and $ETH . But the talent pool willing to apply is shrinking, not growing.

A few possible reasons floating around:

💼 Years of boom-bust cycles made people skeptical crypto jobs are stable long-term
🎓 Traditional tech and finance are still pulling top talent away with bigger brand names
📉 Past layoff waves at major exchanges left a trust scar on the labor market
🤖 AI roles are absorbing engineers who'd have gone into crypto a few years ago

This creates a real bottleneck. All the institutional money flowing in — Goldman Sachs, Mastercard, custody rule changes — needs people to actually build and run it. Capital is moving faster than talent is following.

If this gap keeps widening, does it slow down institutional crypto adoption, or does it just mean existing crypto workers get paid a lot more? 👇
