Imagine asking an AI agent to complete a task while you sleep. It finds a service, pays for the data it needs, and delivers the result without constant human intervention.

That sounds useful. But who controls what the agent can do when we are not watching?

An intelligent agent can still make costly mistakes. Sellers also need to know whether an agent is authorized to act on someone’s behalf.

This is where I find Kite interesting.

Kite Agent Passport is designed to let agents pay for services through user-approved spending sessions. Users can set a budget, per-transaction limits, and a time window, then approve the session with a passkey.

For me, the key idea is simple: delegation should not mean giving up control.

Agents need room to work, but clear permissions and accountability matter just as much as their intelligence. As agents begin interacting and paying for services, these safeguards could become essential infrastructure.

The real test of the agent economy isn't how much AI can do alone. It's whether we can trust it to act within clear boundaries.
