## Crypto Market Structure: What Are the Key Indicators Telling Us?
Before taking a directional position in the crypto market, I’m currently monitoring four important indicators:
USDT.D — Liquidity/Risk Sentiment**
USDT Dominance is an important gauge of capital positioning within the crypto market. A sustained decline in USDT.D would generally indicate reduced demand for stablecoin exposure and can support a broader risk-on environment.
BTC.D — Capital Rotation**
Bitcoin Dominance remains important for determining whether liquidity is concentrated in BTC or rotating toward altcoins. A breakdown in BTC.D, particularly alongside strength in TOTAL, would be a constructive signal for the altcoin market.
BTC Longs — Positioning**
BTC long positioning needs to be monitored carefully. Excessive leverage without corresponding spot demand can increase the probability of a long squeeze. The key is not simply the number of longs, but how positioning develops alongside price.
TOTAL / Other Market Caps — Confirmation**
The broader market needs to confirm the thesis. If TOTAL begins expanding while BTC.D and USDT.D weaken, it could indicate improving market breadth and increasing participation beyond Bitcoin.
The setup I’m watching is:
**USDT.D ↓**
**BTC.D ↓**
**BTC positioning remains controlled**
**TOTAL / Altcoin market cap ↑**
If these conditions develop together, the probability of a broader altcoin expansion could increase.
However, I’m not treating any single indicator as a signal by itself. **Price action and confirmation remain the priority.**
