Execution Layer: Utilizes a high-performance version of the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM), making it fully compatible with existing tools like MetaMask.
Consensus Layer: Powered by PlasmaBFT, a mechanism optimized for sub-second finality and high throughput.
Settlement Layer: Uniquely anchors its security to the Bitcoin blockchain, periodically saving transaction history to benefit from Bitcoin's institutional-grade security.

Zero-Fee USDT Transfers: Plasma’s standout feature is the ability to send USDT with zero transaction fees for standard transfers. This is facilitated by a "Paymaster" system that sponsors gas costs for users.
Custom Gas Tokens: Users can pay for transaction fees in assets they already hold, such as USDT or BTC, removing the friction of needing to buy a native utility token just to move funds.
Deep Liquidity: At its mainnet launch in September 2025, the network reportedly debuted with over $2 billion in stablecoin liquidity and support from over 100 DeFi partners, including Aave and Uniswap.

The native token of the network is XPL, which serves three critical roles:
