Unlocking Bitcoin Utility: My Experience with Native BTC-Backed Borrowing on Aave via Babylon’s TBVBitcoin is the ultimate collateral asset scarce, liquid, globally trusted, and institutionally adopted. Yet for years, putting it to work in DeFi meant painful trade offs: wrapping into synthetic versions, bridging across chains, or handing custody to centralized platforms. Those compromises introduce bridge risk, custodian risk, and a fundamental departure from Bitcoin’s self-sovereign ethos. Babylon’s Trustless Bitcoin Vaults (TBV) change that. Combined with Aave v4’s modular Hub-and-Spoke architecture, they enable something long sought after: native Bitcoin-backed borrowing. Your BTC stays locked on the Bitcoin network itself. No wrapping. No bridging. No intermediaries holding your keys. Cryptographic proofs make the locked BTC usable as collateral on Aave so you can borrow stablecoins or other assets while retaining full self custody. Why This Is Different from Existing Bitcoin Lending Options Most current solutions fall into a few categories: Centralized platforms Convenient, but you give up custody and face counterparty risk. Wrapped BTC (WBTC, etc.) Requires trusting a custodian or federation that holds the real BTC. Bridged or synthetic versions — Expose you to bridge exploits and additional smart-contract risk. Traditional CeFi loans — Often involve over-collateralization with limited transparency and exit friction. Babylon’s approach is fundamentally different. BTC is locked in a Taproot script on the Bitcoin network via a Trustless Bitcoin Vault. Pre-signed spending paths cover repayment, liquidation, refund, and challenge scenarios. On the Ethereum side, an Aave adapter creates a transfer-restricted collateral record that Aave’s Babylon Core Spoke can read. This record is 1:1 with the locked BTC (satoshi precision) and exists only inside the integration it is not a tradable or bridgable token. The result: Bitcoin’s security model stays intact while Aave’s deep liquidity and battle tested risk parameters become available. Liquidations are handled carefully (full-vault units because UTXOs are indivisible, with partial-position support and fairness mechanisms), and redemption is enforced by cryptographic proof rather than any third party’s cooperation. This is the first major step toward making the entire ~$1.7T Bitcoin market productive onchain without compromising the asset’s core properties. Babylon has already activated billions in native BTC through its staking protocol; TBV extends that vision to credit markets. My Experience on the Public Testnet I went through the full cycle on the public testnet (Bitcoin Signet + Ethereum Sepolia) using the official TBV Testnet app. Setup Connected a UniSat Bitcoin wallet (set to Taproot/P2TR address type) and an Ethereum wallet on Sepolia. Claimed testnet Signet BTC and Sepolia ETH from the faucets. Creating a Vault (Peg-in) Entered an amount within the testnet caps, selected a Vault Provider, and confirmed the Bitcoin + Ethereum transactions. The process involves off-chain setup (authentication, signature collection) followed by Bitcoin confirmations. Once the vault reached Verified status, I activated it. The protocol automatically supplied it as collateral no separate “add collateral” step needed. The UI helpfully suggests splitting deposits into a sacrificial vault (front of the liquidation order) and a protected vault for better risk management. Borrowing From the Loans section I selected mock USDC/USDT/WBTC, entered an amount, and signed. The borrowed assets arrived in my Ethereum wallet. The health factor updated clearly, giving a real-time view of position safety. Repaying I repaid the full amount (interest accrues continuously, so the exact figure is slightly higher than the principal). Approval + repay transactions went through smoothly. The flow moves through Claim (ZK proof of repayment) → Challenge period (~3 days) → Payout of the original BTC back to the committed Bitcoin address. Because the testnet uses real Bitcoin consensus rules for enforcement, the process feels authentic even with test assets. Overall experience: The flow is educational and transparent. You can verify your BTC remains on Bitcoin throughout. The interface has improved with community feedback (wallet support now includes hardware, software, and MPC options such as Ledger, Keystone, OneKey, UniSat, OKX Wallet, and others). Unlocking Bitcoin Utility: My Experience with Native BTC-Backed Borrowing on Aave via Babylon’s TBV

Bitcoin is the ultimate collateral asset scarce, liquid, globally trusted, and institutionally adopted.
Why This Is Different from Existing Bitcoin Lending Options
Most current solutions fall into a few categories:
Centralized platforms Convenient, but you give up custody and face counterparty risk.
My Experience on the Public Testnet
I went through the full cycle on the public testnet (Bitcoin Signet + Ethereum Sepolia) using the official TBV Testnet app.
Setup
Connected a UniSat Bitcoin wallet (set to Taproot/P2TR address type) and an Ethereum wallet on Sepolia. Claimed testnet Signet BTC and Sepolia ETH from the faucets.
Creating a Vault (Peg-in)
Entered an amount within the testnet caps, selected a Vault Provider, and confirmed the Bitcoin + Ethereum transactions.
Borrowing
From the Loans section I selected mock USDC/USDT/WBTC, entered an amount, and signed. The borrowed assets arrived in my Ethereum wallet. The health factor updated clearly, giving a real-time view of position safety.
Repaying
I repaid the full amount (interest accrues continuously, so the exact figure is slightly higher than the principal). Approval + repay transactions went through smoothly.
Withdraw & Redeem
Selected the vault, confirmed the Ethereum transaction, and initiated redemption.
Vault creation times have been reduced significantly thanks to research breakthroughs. Testnet limits and mock assets keep everything risk free for experimentation.
Feedback & Looking Ahead
The Public Testnet is a strong foundation. Clearer progress indicators during the Bitcoin confirmation and challenge windows, plus even more guided tooltips for first-time users, would further lower the barrier. Expanded education around vault ordering for liquidation risk management would also help. I’m submitting detailed feedback via the form on the Babylon CreatorPad Campaign page so the team can continue iterating.
This is more than a new lending product. It is infrastructure that lets Bitcoin remain Bitcoin while unlocking its utility across DeFi. Once mainnet launches (pending Aave governance), institutions and individual holders will finally have a trust-minimized way to borrow against native BTC at scale.

MARKET UPDATE- 👀 Bitcoin finally reached my Long idea at 62.3k last night, which was the level I had been waiting for since the start of the week. This has given a good reaction so far of 2%, especially considering it is the weekend. As expected, $63.5k is the 4hr resistance now so I will be watching to see if further strength enters the market around the weekly close for a potential push back towards $65k. $BTC {future}(BTCUSDT) $BNB {spot}(BNBUSDT) $XRP {spot}(XRPUSDT) #GrayscaleUrgesSenateVoteOnCLARITYAct GoldTradesAbove$4000 #CryptoDawar #MANTRA #HOME #HYPER

MARKET UPDATE- 👀 After Bitcoin broke out from the 4hr downtrend (orange trendline), we can see that it rejected exactly from $65.4k (Weekly Open). Since this, the price has retraced back inside the previous downtrend, confirming deviation, and back to $65.3k (Monday Low). At the time of writing, $63.5k is holding as support. We could look to take an entry here in anticipation of the Monday Low holding and look for a push higher. There would be easy invalidation on this idea- acceptance below $63.5k on the 4hr time frame. $BTC {future}(BTCUSDT) $BNB {spot}(BNBUSDT) $XRP {spot}(XRPUSDT) #SaudiOilTankersRerouteAroundAfrica #CryptoDawar #MMT #SNXXB #GIGGLE

MARKET UPDATE- 👀 Bitcoin is currently pushing into the 4hr downtrend resistance as shown by the orange trendline. This downtrend has been in place since early last week, so I am watching for a breakout. Confirmation of a breakout could see the price push back towards $65.7k (Monday High) once again. Another rejection from the downtrend and we could be looking to $63.5k (Monday Low) again which has been solid over the past couple of days. $BTC {future}(BTCUSDT) $BNB {spot}(BNBUSDT) $XRP {spot}(XRPUSDT) #CryptoDawar #ESP #ROBO #BTC #Write2Earn

MARKET UPDATE- 👀 We have seen the Monday Low reclaim scenario play out for Bitcoin, as highlighted in yesterday's update- Once $63.5k was reclaimed on the 4hr time frame, this has been back tested to confirm new support before pushing towards the supply starting at $64.5k. We can expect BTC to continue to face resistance in this area, up towards $65k. Later today we have the FOMC interest rate decision, and the press conference, which could bring volatility. I will be watching to see if this level can be flipped, or a retest at $64k and just below to see if this provides a reaction. $BTC {future}(BTCUSDT) $BNB {spot}(BNBUSDT) $XRP {spot}(XRPUSDT) #FOMCWatching #ACH #COTI #FLOW #CryptoDawar

MARKET UPDATE- 👀  After continuing to face resistance at $65.3k (Weekly Open) yesterday, Bitcoin has given a more aggressive rejection and currently finds itself trading below the Monday Range. Since $63.4k (Monday Low) was lost on the 4hr time frame, there are early signs that this is becoming resistance too. I will be looking to set a limit order slightly lower, in anticipation of further downside. I will also be watching for a 4hr reclaim of $63.4k as this could see a push towards the fresh supply at $64.5k - $65k. $BTC {future}(BTCUSDT) $ETH {spot}(ETHUSDT) $XRP {spot}(XRPUSDT) #BitcoinRecoversFromAsianSessionLows #CryptoDawar #COTI #VANRY #DEXE

MARKET UPDATE- 👀 Bitcoin is facing 4hr resistance at $65.3k (Weekly Open), and whilst this resistance remains, I am interested in waiting for a reaction around $64.5k. This is a tight range that BTC is trading in, and the conditions have not been ideal in recent days, so patience is my best tool right now. If BTC can flip the $65.3k resistance into support, then the next likely move would be towards $67k (Prev Week High) area. For now I am waiting for more of the Monday Range to develop and will look to set some limits when the picture becomes clearer. $BTC {future}(BTCUSDT) $ETH {spot}(ETHUSDT) $XRP {spot}(XRPUSDT) #OilDropsAbout6% #DIA #NIL #CryptoDawar #BTC

MARKET UPDATE- 👀 Bitcoin continues to respect $63.7k (Monday Low) as support and is still moving slowly back towards $64.7k (Weekly Open.) So far, this level has not been retested since it broke a couple of days ago, but with low weekend volume this is not a surprise.  For now, I am just observing what happens as we approach the weekly close when volume usually picks up, waiting to see if $64.7k is reclaimed to end the week with a green weekly candle. $BTC {future}(BTCUSDT) $ETH {spot}(ETHUSDT) $XRP {spot}(XRPUSDT) #SHIBSurges36% #DIA #EUL #CryptoDawar #BTC

MARKET UPDATE- 👀 Once again, the levels that we have been tracking for Bitcoin have played out- yesterday we saw the sweep at exactly $63.7k (Monday Low.) So far we are seeing this key level hold as 4hr support, and as long as this holds BTC has the chance to retest the $64.7k (Weekly Open) area. I do expect to see resistance here if this is tested today. The reaction at $63.7k has not been particularly strong so far, as it has struggled to even provide a 1% bounce, and if this level fails too then I have my eyes around $62.5k.  $BTC {future}(BTCUSDT) $ETH {spot}(ETHUSDT) $XRP {spot}(XRPUSDT) #USFiresOnTankerBreakingIranBlockade #DEXE #EUL #PROM #CryptoDawar

MARKET UPDATE- 👀 I mentioned yesterday that we were likely to see Bitcoin retest $64.6k, and that is the exact level that provided a bounce. However, as expected, $65.8k (Monday High) remains the clear 4hr resistance with the price rejecting exactly from that level. This now gives BTC a tight 4hr range of $64.6k - $65.8k, and we need to keep an eye out for which one of these levels is broken first. If $64.6k is broken then a sweep of $63.7k (Monday Low) is a real possibility. Or 4hr acceptance above $65.8k and $67.2k is back on the table. $BTC {future}(BTCUSDT) $BNB {future}(BNBUSDT) $XRP {spot}(XRPUSDT) #FedSeptHikeOddsJumpToAbout82% #CryptoDawar #RE #RIF #LA

MARKET UPDATE- 👀 After spending most of yesterday holding $65.8k (Monday High) as 4hr support, Bitcoin has now accepted below this level.  We can see, over the last 2 candles, that this is now showing early signs of resistance. All the time that BTC is trading below $65.8k, I think it is reasonable to assume we will see a test of $64.6k area soon. On a higher time frame, BTC could just be putting in a Higher Low here, but to have confidence in this we need to see $65.8k reclaimed. If this scenario plays out then $67.3k would be the next potential upside target. $BTC {future}(BTCUSDT) $BNB {spot}(BNBUSDT) $XRP {spot}(XRPUSDT) #SKHynixADRConversionCapFullyUsed #RIF #BANK #WLFI #CryptoDawar

The last 4hr candle just about held this has 4hr support, and we are continuing to see BTC fight to maintain the area. If this provides a good reaction, I expect a move to test the key 4hr level at $67.3k (orange line).  During the aggressive sell-off at the beginning of June, $67.3k became a level of 4hr resistance before another strong leg down to below $60k. $67.3k was once again resistance mid- June before another aggressive move down. The Monday Range this week is $63.7k - $65.8k.

MARKET UPDATE- 👀 At the time of writing this, Bitcoin has accepted below $64.6k (Weekly Open) and already this looks like a potentially strong area of resistance to overcome. I am not interested in taking any long positions right here, and am more interested in looking at altcoins, and potentially Bitcoin, when the $63.5k area is tested. This is my first real area of interest. New week means new opportunities, but for now I want to see some of the Monday Range play out and how the US stock market opens. I will then look to set some fresh limit orders. $BTC {future}(BTCUSDT) $ETH {spot}(ETHUSDT) $XRP {spot}(XRPUSDT) #FootballSeason2026 #ACE #BONK #PROM #CryptoDawar
