Aave LLC filed an emergency motion May 4, 2026, asking a New York federal court to lift a restraining order freezing 30,766 $ETH
— about $73M — recovered after the April 18 Kelp DAO rsETH exploit. The funds were frozen by Arbitrum’s Security Council post-hack and later blocked by a May 1 court order. Plaintiffs holding unpaid terrorism judgments against North Korea claim the assets are linked to the Lazarus Group and can be seized under U.S. law. Aave argues “a thief does not own what he steals” and that the $ETH belongs to exploit victims.
