Elysium is one of the more interesting developments around the Hyperliquid ecosystem because it is not simply another Layer 2 trying to compete for attention. The bigger idea is to build infrastructure specifically around the needs of Hyperliquid and connect that infrastructure back to the ecosystem.
Hyperliquid has already established itself as a major force in #DeFi but growth also exposes infrastructure limitations. HyperEVM introduces powerful programmability, yet developers and traders still have to deal with challenges around dual-block complexity, throughput and transaction costs. When activity becomes expensive or slow, it becomes harder for applications to scale and for users to interact frequently.
That is where Elysium enters the picture.
Elysium is designed as a purpose-built #Layer2 that remains closely connected to HyperCore rather than operating as an isolated environment. One detail that immediately stands out is the use of $HYPE as gas. Keeping the native Hyperliquid asset at the center of transaction execution creates a more connected experience between the L2 environment and the wider Hyperliquid economy.
The trading side is also important. Elysium is designed to improve the environment for spot trading and support structures such as PropAMMs. For builders, this can mean infrastructure that is more closely aligned with high-performance trading rather than simply general-purpose EVM activity.
Another interesting component is the L1Read precompile, which allows Elysium to access information from Hyperliquid's Layer 1. This matters because composability is not just about moving assets between networks. It is also about allowing applications to use relevant data and functionality from the underlying ecosystem.
Then there is the token generation lifecycle.
The vision moves from AMM to PropAMM, then toward HyperCore Spot and eventually HIP-3 perpetual markets. If this lifecycle works as intended, Elysium could provide projects with a more connected path from initial liquidity and market formation into deeper #Hyperliquid markets.
But the part I find most interesting is the economic model.
Elysium's proposed sequencer fee distribution allocates 25% to builders, 25% to the treasury and 50% toward KNTQ buy and burn.
That structure creates a very different conversation around Layer 2 economics.
Instead of all network value simply accumulating at the execution layer, the model attempts to distribute value between the people building on the network, the ecosystem treasury and #KNTQ through the buy-and-burn mechanism.
The important point is not to treat this as a guaranteed price-growth machine. Network usage still has to materialize, and the actual economic impact depends on adoption, fees and execution. But the mechanism itself is interesting because it attempts to connect real network activity with the KNTQ economic model.
That is why I see #Elysium as more than just another scaling solution.
The real test will be execution: Can it attract builders? Can it improve the trading experience? Can it generate meaningful activity? And can the fee model actually create sustainable value across the ecosystem?
If those pieces come together, #Elysium could represent a different approach to Layer 2 design one where scaling infrastructure is not only about increasing throughput, but also about creating stronger economic alignment between users, builders, Hyperliquid and KNTQ.
For me, that is the part worth watching.
