一双虚拟跑鞋，五千块起步，走路能回本。这笔账 2022 年春天有三百万人算过，后来几乎全算错了。

那阵子打开推特和微信群，到处是同一个问题，这双鞋多久回本。有人算过，一天跑够多少公里，挖出多少代币，按当时币价折成人民币，两三个月回本，之后都是赚的。

鞋是手机里的一张图片，一个叫跑鞋的 NFT。花五千块买下它，在小区里跑步，手机靠 GPS 记里程，里程换成游戏代币，卖掉就是钱。项目叫 STEPN，2021 年 10 月在澳洲成立，做这件事的人里，领头的那个是浙江大学出来的。

这个玩法在中文互联网炸开只用了一个月。日活从三万涨到七十万，注册用户过百万，估值做到十亿美元。从上线到十亿，五个月。

我翻过当时的价格记录。治理代币 GMT 在 2022 年 4 月底冲到 4.18 美元，游戏代币 GST 到过九美元附近。按这个价，两三个月回本确实算得出来。剩下的问题是，你赚的币是谁付的钱。

STEPN 用双代币。GST 没有发行上限，你每跑一步，系统就多印一点。GMT 总量六十亿。牛市里这套设计看着很顺，因为总有新人进来买鞋，新人付的鞋钱撑住了币价，老玩家挖出来的币有人接。

你赚的那部分，就是后面进场的人付的。新用户增速一慢，币价撑不住，回本周期拉长，新人更不来。这个环只会往下转。

2022 年 5 月 27 日，STEPN 发了一份公告，说 7 月中旬起不再给中国大陆用户提供 GPS 和 IP 服务。官方给的说法是，大陆用户大约占百分之五。

公告前后，GMT 从 1.32 美元跌到 0.8 美元附近，一天跌掉四成。

到 5 月底只剩 1.2 美元左右，比 4 月峰值跌了七成。GST 那个月跌了 86%。

后面没什么悬念。GMT 现在离最高点跌去 99%，GST 不到 0.01 美元。当年一千美元起步的跑鞋，地板价掉到二十五美元上下。

我的判断是，那次清退只是把时间提前了。这套模型要求新用户永远比老用户多，而在真实市场里，任何加速增长都会停。停下来的那天，就是回本周期超过鞋价的那天。

我拿不准的是这个。当时那么多人在算回本周期，为什么很少有人反过来算一遍，如果没人接我的币会怎样。答案其实写在白皮书里，GST 没有上限那几个字，已经说完了。

走路本身没毛病，我现在还每天走。只是那双五千块的鞋，从头到尾都只是一张图。
