Panel Discourse, Highlighting Moments of Excellence
In addition to engaging keynote addresses, the summit featured enlightening panel discussions, bringing together investors, industry pioneers, and prominent figures from leading Web 3.0 organizations. Delving into crucial topics such as the 2024 Digital Asset Macro Trends, Asia's Race in Virtual Asset Spot ETFs, Hong Kong's Potential Leadership Role, RWA's Role in Catalyzing Hong Kong's Global Financial Innovation Hub, Public Chain Ecosystem Building in Asia, Long-term Prospects and Insights on AI+Web3 Integration, and Bitcoin Ecosystem Investment Strategies, these discussions not only encompassed the core facets of Web 3.0 but also offered profound insights into industry trends and advancements.
The panel discussion on the topic of "Macroeconomic Catalysts for Digital Assets in 2024" featured Paul Wang, Founding Partner of PSE Trading; Jeffrey Ding, Chief Analyst of HashKey Group; Marco Lim, Managing Partner of MaiCapital; Kevin Law, Head of BD at CoinDesk Indices; and Paolo Chen, CSO of VDX Exchange, and Welf Sang, CEO of Sensors Data engaged in a roundtable discussion. Jeffrey Ding pointed out that the Fed's policy and the U.S. election have an important impact on the trend of the U.S. dollar and bitcoin, and the expectation of interest rate cuts is usually favourable to risky assets, but in the actual implementation process, it may be faced with the challenges of the macro market. Marco Lim added that in the short term, the liquidity of Bitcoin and the virtual currency market as a whole is key, while in the long term, it is positive for the virtual currency market as a whole.
In the discussion on "Unlocking the Bull Market: Bitcoin Ecosystem Investment Review," Vito, Co-founder of Meta Era, Jack Kong, Founder of Nano Labs and Board of Director Cyberport, Jademont, Founding Partner of Shuidi Capital, Dr Jingo, a renowned Bitcoin ecosystem researcher, z3th, Founder and CEO of Ordz Games, and Leon, Founder of Crossspace, engaged in an enlightening dialogue. Jack Kong highlighted the technological advantages of Runes over BRC-20, noting the promising prospects in both fields. Dr Jingo pointed out the discrepancy between the East and West regarding Bitcoin's L2 solutions, with the Western market showing less acceptance due to concerns about technology maturity and investors' reluctance to entrust their Bitcoin to others. Jademont shared the view that Layer 1 asset protocols could reach new heights, driven by the emergence of Runes, which bring new narratives, technologies, and advantages. This shift could potentially lead to a small bull market for related protocols as the market reevaluates the Layer 1 protocol track.
In the panel discussion on "Scaling Web 3.0: The Race of L2," industry leaders including Sandy, Co-founder of Scroll, Kenny Li, Co-founder of Manta Network, Yves La Rose, Founder and CEO of EOS Network Foundation, Vince Yang, Co-founder of zkLink, Chunda McCain, Co-founder of ION Protocol, and Adam from Alchemy Pay, engaged in a thought-provoking conversation. Sandy said that the Scroll main net was launched about six months ago to build an end product that is fully equivalent to EVM so that developers can easily integrate and migrate their use, whilst ensuring security and reliability and driving developer and project engagement. Kenny Li added that Manta Network is building an EVM-based Layer 2 solution, but should focus more on modularity to address barriers to innovation.
In the panel discussion on "Current Status and Development of the Asian Web 3.0 Startup Environment," Sebastien Borget, COO and Co-founder of The Sandbox, Lian Zhu, CEO of Aperture Finance, Elsa, Co-founder of Bitmetis, Joe Takayama, Angel Investor/KOL, and Ian Yeh, Growth Director at TempoX, engaged in a comprehensive discussion. Sebastien Borget emphasized that Asia should not be perceived as a singular region, as each country/region has its uniqueness. For example, Japan and Korea exhibit significant differences, necessitating the formulation of tailored strategies for different markets. Lian Zhu added that each region and market possesses its distinct characteristics, and expanding from one market to a global market poses substantial challenges in areas such as technology and community development. People in different regions have diverse ways of thinking, preferences, and risk tolerance.
