Crypto liquidations totaled $315M over the past 24h — down sharply from the nearly $1B flushed out this past Tuesday. On the surface that reads as calm returning. Look at the split and it doesn't.

Bitcoin led all assets with $75.8M liquidated, and 69% of that ($52.06M) came from longs, not shorts ($23.74M). That's the opposite of a short squeeze. Every leg down near $81K is catching leveraged dip-buyers, not panicked shorts covering — the kind of one-sided flow that usually means the book hasn't actually de-risked, it's just gotten quieter between flushes.

Smaller liquidation events with the same long-heavy skew as the big one two days ago is worth watching. Is this capitulation finally working its way out of the market, or just a lower-volume version of the same setup that produced Tuesday's $1B wipeout?
