CAKE is up +4.5% with surging volume — but the 4H RSI at 70.8 is flashing a yellow flag. Here's how to trade it without getting trapped. 🥞
The setup: PancakeSwap's token bounced from $1.385 and is testing $1.45 with $75.8M volume (1.86x normal). The daily RSI at 64.7 still has room, and the DeFi narrative is heating up again. But when 4H RSI hits overbought while daily is just "warm," you scale in — you don't chase.
**Why CAKE still has legs:**
🥞 **DEX narrative is back**
PancakeSwap v3 is live, TVL is growing, and DeFi summer 2.0 whispers are getting louder. CAKE as the leading BSC DEX token is a leveraged bet on DeFi adoption.
🥞 **Volume confirms the move**
$6.06M net inflow in 24h with buyers dominating (1.40 buy/sell ratio). This isn't a short squeeze — it's fresh money entering. When volume surges on green candles, the trend has fuel.
🥞 **Structure is bullish but extended**
SMA7 > SMA25 on both 4H and daily. Higher highs and higher lows intact. But price is now 3.5% above SMA7 (4H) — that's stretched. The play is buying pullbacks, not chasing rips.
**My trading plan:**
- Entry: $1.38-$1.44 (scale in: 40% at $1.44, 60% at $1.38 if pullback happens)
- Stop loss: $1.30 (below the consolidation zone — if this breaks, the uptrend is broken)
- TP1: $1.55 (previous high, take 40% profit)
- TP2: $1.70 (measured move target, trail the rest)
**Why these levels?**
$1.38 is the intraday low and SMA25 support. $1.30 is the weekly support level — a break below invalidates the bullish thesis. $1.55 is where sellers stepped in last week. $1.70 is the 1.618 Fibonacci extension.
**The RSI dilemma:**
Yes, 4H RSI is overbought. But in strong trends, RSI can stay overbought for days. The key is position sizing — scale in small now, add more on dips. Don't go all-in at the top.
DeFi tokens are waking up. Is CAKE in your portfolio or are you waiting for a -10% dip? 🥞👇
