#AntiQuantumBitcoinTransactionMinedOnMainnet Anti-Quantum Bitcoin Transaction Mined on Mainnet Without Consensus Changes A major step toward protecting Bitcoin from future quantum-computing threats has been demonstrated on the Bitcoin mainnet. StarkWare reported that an anti-quantum Bitcoin transaction using its Quantum-Safe Bitcoin (QSB) scheme was successfully mined on August 26 without requiring a soft fork, hard fork, or changes to Bitcoin’s consensus rules. The transaction reportedly involved 10,000 satoshis and was processed through MARA Foundation’s Slipstream service. StarkWare said the transaction required several hours of GPU computation and cost approximately $150–$200 to generate. The significance of the experiment lies in Bitcoin’s long-term exposure to quantum computing. Powerful quantum computers could eventually threaten traditional cryptographic signatures by making it possible to derive private keys from exposed public keys. Researchers have therefore been exploring post-quantum cryptographic systems capable of protecting blockchain assets against such attacks. The QSB approach uses hash-function-based security and a process known as signature trial mining to reduce the risk posed by quantum attacks. However, the system does not automatically protect every existing Bitcoin holding. Users would still need to move their funds into quantum-resistant conditions, and assets whose public keys have already been exposed may remain vulnerable. The successful mainnet transaction is therefore better viewed as a technical demonstration rather than a complete quantum-proof upgrade for Bitcoin. Importantly, it shows that anti-quantum spending conditions can be tested on Bitcoin’s existing network without immediately changing consensus rules. StarkWare CEO Eli Ben-Sasson has continued to support a protocol-level solution through a future soft fork. The broader Bitcoin community is also increasingly discussing proposals such as BIP-360, which aims to introduce structures designed to reduce exposure to quantum attacks.$NVDA.US $AAPL.US
