three.ws, the open-source platform for 3D AI agents, has been named an OpenAI Select Partner within the OpenAI Partner Network. The designation, publicly announced in late July 2026, formalizes work that was already live: turning a plain-language prompt inside ChatGPT into an interactive, riggable, AR-ready 3D model — with no API key, no account, and no cost to the user.
What the partnership actually covers
Most “AI partnership” announcements stop at a logo. This one ships product surfaces:
3D Studio connector (MCP) — Free tools inside ChatGPT that generate textured 3D models, avatars, and rigged characters, then render them inline in an interactive viewer.
Custom GPT — A public three.ws 3D Studio GPT in the GPT Store for users whose plans do not support connectors.
One-tap AR — Generated models can be placed in the real world via Apple Quick Look (iOS) and Scene Viewer (Android).
Spatial MCP — An open (CC0) response shape so a live 3D scene can be returned as a first-class tool result, not just a file link.
The stack underneath — viewer, runtime, embeddable web component — remains open source.
Why it matters
Assistants have been strong at text and images for years and weak at three dimensions. Ask most models for a chair and you get a picture of a chair. You cannot orbit it, rig it, drop it into a game engine, or stand it on your desk. three.ws treats 3D as a native response type: generate → inspect → animate → place in AR, all inside the conversation.
Being named a Select Partner is not a badge for a footer. It is distribution into the surfaces where millions of people already work, while the underlying protocols stay open so other clients can adopt the same patterns.

three.ws, the open-source 3D AI agent platform on Solana, remains one of the more active builders in the agent + on-chain identity space. While many projects slow after launch, the team’s public GitHub and X activity show continued daily shipping.
Recent X highlights
On September 11, @trythreews highlighted progress around the Solana Seeker experience: users can search three.ws in the Seeker dApp Store, and anything created on the device stays synced with the web product under the same wallet. The team also publicly invited Solana co-founder @toly to a potential GitHub Community livestream, noting they are already approved for an Open Source Friday-style session.
