Crypto revenue is down 28%. So why did a record 283 protocols pay their holders? 🤯 1kx forecasts blockchain industry revenue at $100B in 2026, down about 28% year over year as asset prices fall. On the surface, that's a bearish headline. Look one layer deeper, and the report (via Odaily) tells a different story: 🔹 Real-economy businesses overtook infrastructure. In Q3, revenue from institutional and real-economy-related businesses surpassed blockchain infrastructure revenue for the first time. They now make up about 30% of industry revenue. 🔹 Public companies are moving in. Their share of industry revenue grew from 7% in 2022 to 16%. 🔹 Value is flowing back to holders. A record 283 protocols returned value to token holders in Q3 through buybacks, burns and fee-sharing. What this tells me: 📉 Prices and revenue are not the same thing. Falling prices cut revenue, but the mix of that revenue is changing. 🏦 The industry is maturing. Real businesses earning real fees, and protocols paying holders, looks more like a business sector than a casino. 🪙 Tokens are being asked to justify themselves. "Number go up" is being replaced by "what does this token actually earn?" The caution: a forecast isn't a result, and buybacks and burns don't make a token valuable on their own. Sustainable fees do. I'd rather watch who keeps paying when prices stay weak. Is the market finally rewarding fundamentals, or is this just a bear-market story people tell themselves? 👇 #Crypto #Blockchain #1kx #defi #BinanceSquare
