RWA (Real-World Asset) perpetual futures trading has seen huge growth over the last year. According to CoinGecko, monthly trading volume reached $347 billion in May, compared to only $230 million at the beginning of 2025.
In simple terms, more investors are now trading digital contracts linked to traditional assets like stocks and commodities instead of buying the assets directly.
This year, crypto exchanges have processed more than $1.32 trillion in RWA perpetual futures trading, a big increase from $104 billion last year.
RWA perpetual futures also became more popular than spot trading in November. Their monthly trading volume reached $26.4 billion, while spot RWA trading recorded $17.7 billion. In 2026, perpetual futures trading generated more than eight times the volume of spot trading.
Among all exchanges, Binance remained the leader with nearly $500 billion in trading volume over the past 17 months. MEXC handled $324 billion, and Hyperliquid recorded $272 billion. Binance's market share also grew from 25% to 36%, showing its strong position in the crypto derivatives market.
