取引所の報告によると、北朝鮮のハッカーは偽の採用面接を利用して従業員のコンピューターにマルウェアを感染させた。

6月、エンジニアAがマルウェアをインストールした。セキュリティチームは端末を交換し、すべてのアクセス権を変更したが、攻撃者はすでにエンジニアたちの役割を把握していた。

9月、エンジニアBは「プロジェクトディレクター」から、実在しない会社の仕事を持ちかけられた。面接を2回受けた後、悪意のある「テスト課題」をダウンロードした。

10月20日、ハッカーは感染したコンピューターを通じてBinanceの社内AIツールに侵入し、エンジニアAとCのコンピューターにもアクセスした。

10月29日、彼らはそのデータを使って攻撃を開始した。

Binanceによると、ハッキングの被害を受けた資産は63億4,000万ドル相当で、そのうち約28億5,000万ドル相当が凍結された。

「損失を補填するために必要な資金の100％を超える額を、すでに確保しています」と取引所は述べた。

報告書では、ハッキングの背後に北朝鮮当局がいるというFBIの見解にも言及している。
