Every time the market moves higher, people start saying the same thing:
"It's an AI bubble. A crash is coming."
I've been looking at the data, and honestly, I don't think the numbers support that conclusion.
Here are four reasons why.
1. Companies Are Making More Money Than Ever
The biggest companies in the U.S. aren't just getting higher stock prices—they're actually making more profit.
S&P 500 profit margins are expected to reach record highs, and most companies are beating both earnings and revenue expectations. That tells me AI isn't just hype anymore. It's already helping businesses become more productive and profitable.
2. Earnings Keep Growing
One of the biggest reasons stock prices rise over the long term is earnings growth.
Analysts expect S&P 500 earnings per share to exceed $400 by 2027, which would be roughly 4x higher than in 2012.
If companies are making significantly more money than they did a decade ago, higher stock prices make sense. This isn't just speculation—it's backed by improving business performance.
3. This Doesn't Look Like the Dot-Com Bubble
Many people compare today's AI boom to the 2000 tech bubble, but the numbers tell a different story.
Back then, the Nasdaq traded at around 86x earnings.
Today, it's closer to 24x earnings.
Could valuations still fall? Absolutely. But we're nowhere near the extreme levels seen during the dot-com era.
4. Bull Markets Can Last Longer Than People Expect
The S&P 500 has already delivered impressive gains since late 2022.
History shows that many bull markets have lasted several years and produced much larger returns than we've seen so far. That doesn't guarantee the rally will continue, but it reminds us that strong markets don't end simply because they've already gone up.
My Take
I believe too many people focus on scary headlines instead of real data.
Could there be a correction? Of course.
Could AI stocks become overvalued in the future? Definitely.
But based on today's earnings, profit margins, and valuations, I don't think we're in an AI bubble like the one we saw in 2000.
The market rewards companies that create real value, and right now, many AI-driven businesses are doing exactly that.
