The crypto market is watching a landmark regulatory development today while
$BTC consolidates just below the key psychological level of $80,000.
Ripple Wins Final OCC Approval for National Trust Bank
In one of the biggest regulatory wins for crypto this year, Ripple has received final approval from the U.S. Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) to establish Ripple National Trust Bank (RNTB).
This federally supervised national trust bank will:
Manage the segregated reserves backing Ripple’s RLUSD stablecoin (currently around $2.5–2.6 billion in market cap)Act as collateral trustee for RLUSD holdersProvide fiduciary digital asset custody services for institutional clients
RLUSD will continue to be issued by Ripple’s New York-regulated entity (Standard Custody & Trust Company), giving the stablecoin dual state + federal oversight. Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse highlighted the milestone, noting that crypto and traditional banking work better together — and this approval puts that vision into practice.
This follows the conditional approval granted in December 2025 and comes as other firms (Circle, Paxos, etc.) have also pursued similar charters under the evolving U.S. stablecoin framework (including GENIUS Act rules).
Market Snapshot (as of Oct 27, 2026)

$XRP : Around $1.29–$1.30 (modest gains in recent sessions)Solana: Hovering near $100Total crypto market cap: Approximately $2.78 trillion
Bitcoin ETFs recently saw a return of inflows (~$110M in one session) after earlier outflows, while some altcoin products remained under pressure. Liquidations stayed relatively contained.
Traders are also eyeing the upcoming Federal Reserve decision, which is adding a layer of caution across risk assets.
Why This Matters
Ripple’s banking charter is a clear signal of growing institutional legitimacy for digital assets and stablecoins in the U.S. It strengthens RLUSD’s competitive position and expands Ripple’s custody offerings at a time when enterprises are looking for regulated on-ramps into crypto.
Meanwhile, the broader market remains range-bound near key levels, with many waiting for clearer macro signals before committing to bigger moves.
What do you think — is this Ripple approval a game-changer for stablecoins and institutional adoption? Will BTC reclaim $80K+ this week?
