Ripple President Monica Long appeared on Bloomberg Crypto and addressed renewed talk about Ripple going public, while also sharing more context around the company’s recent fundraising and growth plans.
$500M share sale put Ripple at a reported $40B valuation
Long discussed the $500 million share sale (Nov 2024) that reportedly valued Ripple at $40 billion, drawing attention across both crypto and traditional finance—especially with major names like Citadel Securities and Fortress involved.
What Ripple says the money and momentum are for
Long said Ripple feels good about closing the funding in Q4 and views 2025 as a strong year for growth—both:
Organic expansion, andM&A-driven growth, following four acquisitions last year
Next priorities: integrating acquired companies into Ripple’s ecosystem and scaling infrastructure products for enterprise customers.
The deal structure: investor protections (and why Ripple likes them)
The segment also touched on protective clauses in the share-sale structure—provisions that can allow investors to sell shares back to Ripple at a guaranteed price/return under certain conditions. Long characterized the structure as favorable, and framed Citadel and Fortress as strategic partners, especially around bridging blockchain tech with capital markets.
“Ripple isn’t just XRP”
When asked about the view that Ripple’s value is heavily tied to XRP, Long emphasized that the company’s strategy is broader—focused on building digital asset infrastructure, not simply holding XRP.
She also pointed to Ripple’s global licensing footprint (70+ licenses, per her comments) and a compliance-first approach aimed at helping traditional finance use blockchain, stablecoins, and tokenization in real-world settings.
IPO talk: “No timeline”
On the question of a Ripple IPO, Long reiterated that Ripple’s balance sheet is strong and that new strategic investor interest means it doesn’t need public markets to fund growth.
Her message was straightforward: Ripple plans to remain private, with no IPO timeline.
