FTX Scandal Series — Part 1: The Rise of Sam Bankman-Fried
Sam Bankman-Fried, known as SBF, was once one of the most powerful figures in crypto.
English Version 🇬🇧
In 2017, SBF founded Alameda Research, a crypto trading firm. In 2019, he co-founded FTX, which quickly became one of the world's leading cryptocurrency exchanges.
By 2021, FTX was valued at approximately $25 billion. Investors trusted the company, and millions of users traded on its platform.
But behind the success, serious problems were developing. In November 2022, FTX collapsed, exposing the misuse of customer funds.
In 2023, SBF was convicted on seven fraud-related counts. In March 2024, he was sentenced to 25 years in prison.
The lesson: A famous founder and a billion-dollar company do not guarantee the safety of your crypto.
Part 2: How were FTX customer funds
