📚 BEFORE YOU USE A STABLECOIN, CHECK THESE 4 THINGS
Stablecoins are designed to maintain a relatively stable value, often by tracking a currency such as the US dollar.
But a stablecoin is not automatically risk-free.
Here are four things worth researching before using one:
1️⃣ The peg
What currency or asset is the stablecoin designed to track? How has it behaved during periods of market stress?
2️⃣ The reserves
What assets support the stablecoin? Are reserve reports available, and who provides the verification?
3️⃣ Redemption
Can eligible holders redeem tokens for the underlying currency? What are the requirements, fees, and processing terms?
4️⃣ Network and platform support
Which blockchain networks support the token? Is it available on the exchange or wallet you plan to use?
⚠️ Remember: A stablecoin can face liquidity problems, loss of its intended peg, issuer risk, smart-contract vulnerabilities, or restrictions on redemption.
A strong research process starts with understanding how the token works—not simply looking at its name or popularity.
💬 Let's discuss!
Which factor do you investigate first when choosing a stablecoin?
A — Reserves
B — Redemption
C — Network support
D — Price stability
