Seoul, April 28, 2026 — KBank, one of South Korea’s largest internet-only banks and the exclusive banking partner of Upbit, has officially signed a strategic partnership with Ripple to pilot blockchain-based cross-border remittance solutions.
The partnership agreement was signed at KBank’s headquarters in Seoul, attended by KBank CEO Choi Woo-hyung and Ripple APAC Managing Director Fiona Murray.
The collaboration aims to conduct a Proof-of-Concept (PoC) using Ripple’s technology to deliver faster, cheaper, and more transparent international money transfers compared to traditional systems like SWIFT.
Pilot Highlights:
Phase 1 (completed): Wallet-based remittance testing
Phase 2 (ongoing): On-chain transaction stability testing integrated with bank systems
Target corridors: United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Thailand
Utilizes Palisade, Ripple’s institutional digital wallet and custody SaaS solution
This move represents Ripple’s continued push for institutional adoption in Asia’s financial sector, particularly in South Korea’s progressive digital banking landscape.
