Bitcoin’s latest price recovery is unfolding alongside a sharp contraction in spot trading activity across centralized exchanges, with volumes now falling to their lowest levels in more than two years.

Between June 30 and August 12, Bitcoin rose from approximately $59,000 to $63,600, a gain of nearly 7.8%.

Over the same period, the combined 7-day average spot volume represented by Binance and all other CEXs in the dataset fell from roughly $8.82 billion to $3.95 billion, a decline of about 55%.

The contraction was particularly pronounced across all CEXs excluding Binance, where 7-day average spot volume dropped from $7.12 billion to $3.0 billion, a 57.9% decline and the lowest level since July 2024.

Binance also recorded a substantial decline, with its 7-day average Bitcoin spot volume falling from $1.70 billion to $947 million, or approximately 44.3%.

This is also the lowest Binance reading since July 2024, while the decline remained smaller than the contraction seen across the rest of the centralized exchange market.

The broader market signal is notable: Bitcoin gained nearly 8% while spot turnover fell by more than half.

The price recovery has therefore continued with substantially lower spot trading activity than at the end of June.
