$BTC at $80K: Three Red Weeks and the Busiest Week of the Quarter Ahead

Bitcoin is hovering around $80,000, down about 2.4% this week and closing its third straight week in the red. It's still roughly 36% below the October 2025 all-time high near $126,000.

What's pushing price down:
• ETF outflows: US spot Bitcoin ETFs lost $635.6M on Oct 22, the biggest single-day outflow since June 2025, plus another $137.9M the next day
• Oil shock: WTI crude spiked to $107.89 on Oct 20, reviving inflation fears
• Risk-off mood: BTC is trading in lockstep with tech stocks ahead of big earnings

Key levels I'm watching:
• Support: $79,200 (Saturday's low, the lowest since Sep 18), then $77,600 (Glassnode's True Market Mean), then $75,000
• Resistance: $82,000, where the average ETF buyer cost (~$81,300) meets the 50-day moving average
• Range high: ~$85,600

This week's catalysts:
• Wednesday: Fed rate decision (CME FedWatch shows ~90% odds of no change)
• Thursday: Coinbase and Strategy earnings
• Friday: $10.9B in BTC options expire

My take: $79K has been bought three days in a row, so buyers are clearly defending it. A daily close back above $82K would flip the short-term picture bullish. Lose $79K and $77.6K becomes the magnet. With three big events back to back, expect volatility either way, so size positions carefully.

What I learned:
• Most free mints trade for less than 0.001 BNB, and many have zero buyers at all
• "Free" isn't free: gas adds up fast when you mint 20 collections
• Only a handful hold a real floor, usually the ones with an active game or utility behind them
• Offers often come in far below the floor, so don't panic-sell to the first bid

My takeaway: treat free mints like lottery tickets, not income. Pick projects with something to do after minting, and keep enough BNB for gas so you can actually sell when it counts.
