Confidential smart contracts that still allow selective disclosure is a genuinely hard engineering problem, and it's specifically aimed at regulated finance: think tokenized securities, settlement, or compliance-bound instruments where you need confidentiality by default but auditability on demand. That's a narrower, more institutional use case than most privacy coins chase, and it's why I think the project deserves attention beyond typical retail speculation.

Now the honest part. Privacy-focused L1s have a rough track record of translating strong tech into sustained liquidity and developer traction — capital rotates fast, attention spans are short, and Dusk is competing against both established privacy chains and newer zk-rollup ecosystems building similar compliance tooling. Execution risk is real: mainnet maturity, actual institutional partnerships versus announced ones, and whether builders show up are all open questions I don't think are answered yet.
