âą Protocol revenue: what the protocol retains after paying suppliers.
âą Token-holder benefit: what, if anything, reaches holders through distributions, buybacks or another explicit mechanism.
Why it matters: recurring demand and a clear link between usage and the token can make a project worth researching.
The risks: incentives can inflate activity, token emissions can outweigh buybacks, governance can change the rules, and smart-contract exploits can erase the thesis. Even a strong protocol can be an overpriced investment.
