Solana’s biggest consensus upgrade is now running across both of its public test networks.
It’s called Alpenglow — and the headline number is wild: roughly 150 milliseconds of transaction finality, compared with about 12.8 seconds today. ⚡
That doesn’t mean Solana transactions will suddenly execute 80x faster. The upgrade changes how validators reach consensus, allowing blocks to become final after just one or two rounds of voting.
For users, the potential impact is much simpler: deposits, payments and other transactions could reach irreversible finality almost instantly.
And developers don’t need to rebuild their apps from scratch. Solana says transaction execution, programs, fees and the way users send transactions remain unchanged.
But there’s an important reality check.
150 milliseconds is still a target based on testing and simulations, not a performance guarantee on the live network. Alpenglow also has no confirmed mainnet launch date yet.
If the upgrade works as intended, though, Solana could make ultra-fast settlement a much bigger part of its pitch for trading, payments and other financial applications.
The real question now isn’t whether 150ms sounds fast.
It’s whether Solana can prove it at scale. 👀

CoinDesk 9/26：Anza（Solana 核心客户端团队）9/25 宣布开发者网切换；测试网前一天已完成过渡。Solana Foundation 升级页把两边都标成 active。
它要干的事很直接：把最终确认时间从现在大概 12.8 秒，目标压到约 150 毫秒。换的是投票层（Votor），执行层（SVM）不动。验证者投票不再塞进区块，而是节点之间直接交换再聚合成证书——所以以后很多“交易笔数/TPS”图表会看起来掉一截，那是会计口径变了，不等于用户活动塌了。Foundation 已经在提醒数据商改对比口径。
我刚用 RPC 对过：testnet / devnet 的 getAgGenesisCert 都返回了证书对象，不再是 null（null = 还在 TowerBFT）。这点比“媒体说上了”硬一点。
但别把测试网当主网叙事：
1️⃣ 150ms 仍是模拟目标，还没在真实市况下长期跑稳
2️⃣ 钱包排队、交易所入账检查照样会加延迟
3️⃣ Anza 日程里 feature 激活窗口大约从 9/28 起恢复，但官方没把那天标成 Alpenglow 主网上线
值得盯的是索引/Geyser 那拨人：多 bank 同 slot、confirmed≈finalized、vote 交易从块里消失——这些才是真会踩坑的地方。普通转账/读余额的应用，Foundation 说基本不用迁。
只筛选，不教育。测试网 lit ≠ 主网倒计时。
