#termmax @termmax I kept coming back to one part of TermMax’s design that feels easy to overlook: what happens when liquidation works only partially? In most lending systems, liquidation is mainly about selling enough collateral to cover the outstanding debt. But that process can become complicated when markets move quickly or the collateral itself has limited liquidity. TermMax takes a different approach by introducing physical delivery as part of its liquidation mechanism. The idea is fairly simple. If a borrower’s position enters a situation where liquidation cannot fully recover the required value, the collateral doesn’t simply disappear into an unresolved recovery process. Instead, lenders can receive a proportional share of the remaining collateral directly. That changes the way I think about lender protection on the platform. The interesting part is that TermMax is not designing its liquidation system only around highly liquid crypto assets. Its docs also describe support for RWAs and lower-liquidity collateral, where conventional liquidation can become much harder because there may not always be enough market liquidity to sell the asset efficiently. Of course, physical delivery doesn’t remove risk. Collateral can still lose value, and market volatility can still create losses. But the mechanism addresses a different problem: what happens when selling the collateral is no longer an effective way to complete liquidation? That distinction matters. For me, the bigger question is whether physical delivery can become practical at scale across different types of collateral. If it can, liquidation stops being only a race to sell and starts looking more like an actual collateral settlement process. That is the part of TermMax I’m watching most closely: can flexible liquidation make fixed-rate lending more adaptable to assets that traditional DeFi markets usually struggle to support?

I’ve been looking at one part of TermMax that I think deserves more attention: the ability for borrowers to settle their debt with Fixed-Rate Tokens instead of simply repaying the full debt amount directly. At first, this sounds like a small feature. But it creates an interesting relationship between the borrowing obligation and the market price of the FT. When a borrower opens a position, the debt is fixed according to the market’s terms. Before maturity, however, the borrower can potentially buy the corresponding FTs from the market and use them to repay. If those FTs are trading below their face value, the borrower may be able to settle the obligation at a lower effective cost. That means the fixed rate provides predictability, while the FT market can introduce another layer of flexibility. There is also an interesting asymmetry here. If market conditions become favorable, the borrower has an opportunity to reduce the effective repayment cost. If conditions are unfavorable, the original fixed borrowing terms still provide certainty over what was agreed. This makes TermMax’s model more interesting to me than simply saying “fixed rates are predictable.” The deeper idea is that debt itself becomes a tradable, programmable position rather than just a number sitting inside a lending contract. The question I’m watching is whether deeper FT liquidity can make this flexibility genuinely useful for borrowers at scale, rather than just an interesting mechanism on paper. #termmax @termmax

I kept going to one part of @termmax borrowing model that I found really interesting: having a fixed borrowing rate does not mean you have to pay the same amount back every time. At first borrowing with a fixed rate seems easy to understand. You know how much you have to pay from the start so you can plan for it of wondering what might happen with a rate that can change. But @termmax does something before the loan is due people who borrow money can buy Fixed-Rate Tokens from the market and use them to pay back the debt. This makes a difference between the rate you agree to pay and the actual cost of paying back the debt. If the market is good you might be able to buy Fixed-Rate Tokens for money than you owe and then use them to pay back the debt. If the market is bad the fixed rate you agreed to means you know the maximum amount you have to pay back. So having a fixed rate is not about knowing what will happen. It is also about being able to choose how you pay back the debt. This part of @termmax is more interesting to me than comparing fixed and changing rates. The real question is can using tokens for debt give people a way to know what they are getting into at first and also have options, on. That is what I am paying attention to: can being able to pay back debt in ways become a big advantage as TermMax's market gets bigger and better? #termmax @termmax

Why Security Matters Before Every Transaction on Newton ProtocolSecurity is one of the most important foundations of any blockchain network. Before a transaction is confirmed, users want confidence that the network is designed to process activity reliably and protect the integrity of the ecosystem. A strong security approach helps create a better experience for both everyday users and developers. With the Newton Mainnet Beta, security remains a key focus as the network continues to evolve. The beta phase allows the community to explore the blockchain, test its features, and provide valuable feedback that can contribute to future improvements. This collaborative process supports the long-term development of a more resilient ecosystem. A secure network also encourages innovation. Developers can build decentralized applications with greater confidence, while users can interact with the ecosystem knowing that stability and reliability are important priorities. As adoption grows, maintaining a secure foundation becomes even more valuable.
