I was asleep when the suspension email arrived. I’m a paying Claude user, with projects in the account. Those projects are also stored locally, so this isn’t a story about losing all my work. But access to Claude was revoked.

The email said Anthropic had detected suspicious signals and, after an internal investigation, concluded that my account had violated its Usage Policy. It didn’t identify the specific activity behind that decision.

That leaves me with a conclusion and no concrete explanation. I’ve submitted an appeal and received confirmation that it was received. That confirmation isn’t a decision on the appeal.

For some context, Anthropic’s own transparency report lists 11.4 million banned accounts, 398,000 appeals and 42,000 appeal overturns for January through June 2026. Those are platform-wide figures. They don’t tell me why my account was suspended or what will happen to my appeal.

I’d like to know what actually triggered the suspension. Until then, I can describe the email, but I can’t explain the decision. The projects are still on my machine. The account is the part I can’t use.
