Cross-chain swaps are becoming less about managing wallets and more about simply getting assets where you need them.

STON.fi’s custom address option is a good example of that development.

Previously, moving assets across chains could mean connecting both the sending and receiving wallets, switching networks, and navigating several steps before the transaction was complete.

Now, you can connect only the wallet you're swapping from.

For the destination, you simply paste the wallet address. It addresses a much bigger problem in DeFi: unnecessary wallet friction.

As a user, I don't necessarily want to connect every wallet I own just to receive funds.

I might be sending assets to a hardware wallet, another personal wallet, a treasury address, or someone else's wallet. The receiving address shouldn't always need to become an active participant in the swap.

The real change is in the user experience

The old mental model was:

Connect wallet → choose network → connect another wallet → swap → receive

The simpler model is:

Connect source wallet → choose what you want → enter destination → receive

That's closer to how users actually think about payments.

You don't think:

"Which wallet session should I establish?"

You think:

"What asset do I have, what asset do I need, and where should it go?"

That distinction could become increasingly important as cross-chain DeFi expands.


Stablecoins make this even more relevant

The current supported routes include assets such as USDT and USDC across networks including TON, TRON, Ethereum, BNB Chain, Base, Avalanche, Arbitrum and Polygon, alongside USDG on Robinhood Chain.

For me, this highlights where cross-chain infrastructure has the most practical value.

Users often don't care about the chain itself.

They care about having usable liquidity on the chain where they need it.



But simplicity doesn't eliminate risk

There's one important trade-off.

When you paste a destination address, you become responsible for verifying it.

Before confirming a swap, I would always check:

• Destination address
• Destination chain
• Destination token
• Amount being sent
• Expected fees and final output

A smoother interface should reduce friction—not reduce attention.
