After successfully completing the upgrade to Protocol 26 on the Pi mainnet, the Pi testnet will also be upgraded to Protocol 27! Protocol 27 introduces a more flexible and secure smart contract identity verification mechanism, enabling accounts and applications to authorize transactions in a more advanced way. This upgrade continues the overall direction of the Pi network to roll out new protocol features and expand smart contract capabilities. The target date for upgrading the mainnet to Protocol 27 is September 15, 2026.
