Stop Trading Crypto Blindly! The Crypto Market Has Quietly Changed in 2025 (A Must-Read for Everyone) [Part 3]
Now that we’ve talked about the fundamentals of the market and the psychological traps retail investors often fall into, let’s continue with a highly debated topic on X: many people say they’re long-term investors, but in practice they keep jumping in and out of the market. We’ll also look at whether the “on-chain signals” everyone talks about are really trustworthy, and consider a very practical question: should ordinary people really spend so much time specializing in crypto?
Let’s start with the conflict between long-term and short-term investing. Many people who browse X follow a bunch of industry KOLs, read market commentary and project updates every day, and save loads of in-depth analysis posts. They tell themselves they’ll hold for the long term and won’t chase rallies or panic-sell. But as soon as the market moves, they can’t help opening their trading app. If a coin’s price dips just a few percentage points, they start getting nervous and scour posts for bad news. Then, when it shoots up, they worry about missing out and rush to buy more.

CPI comes out tonight, and crude oil and U.S. Treasuries could move in different directions. 👀
At 8:30 p.m. Beijing time, the U.S. will release its September CPI data. I’ll look at energy prices and core inflation separately: if oil prices are mainly driving up the headline figure while core inflation cools, you can’t judge the market based on just one number.
For U.S. Treasuries, a higher-than-expected reading could fuel expectations of rate hikes, pushing yields up and putting bond prices under pressure; a lower-than-expected reading could ease that pressure. Remember, rising yields usually mean falling bond prices.
For crude oil, we also need to watch supply and demand, as well as geopolitical developments. Hotter-than-expected inflation could also strengthen the dollar and raise concerns about demand, so it shouldn’t automatically be seen as bullish for crude.
I’m still planning to wait for the data to come out, see whether the initial volatility continues, and then decide whether to adjust my trading plan. I won’t add to my position ahead of the results. (Though I’ve already gone short $QQQ 😂 I’ll probably close the position before the data comes out.

U.S. September CPI data due tonight! Could expectations for the Fed’s October meeting be upended again?
At 8:30 p.m. Beijing time on Wednesday, the U.S. will release its September Consumer Price Index (CPI). The market expects a sharp rise in energy prices to drive a marked acceleration in headline inflation, while price pressures excluding food and energy may remain relatively moderate, making the Federal Reserve’s next policy decision more complicated.
The market broadly expects U.S. CPI to rise 0.6% month over month in September, well above August’s 0.4%; the year-over-year rate is expected to climb from 3.4% to 3.6%. Core CPI is forecast to rise 0.2% month over month, down from 0.3% in August, while the year-over-year rate is expected to edge up from 2.4% to 2.5%.
