The chain is moving, Solana processed $3.05 billion in RWA transfers over the past 30 days, alongside $329 billion in stablecoin volume. Assets are being issued, held, and actively settled onchain.

Launching tokenized assets is the easy part. Building distribution and settlement at scale is where the real challenge begins.

What happens when gold starts compounding?

Consider a simple thought experiment beginning in January 1971:

$100 invested in the S&P 500 with dividends reinvested grew to roughly $36,000.
$100 invested in gold, assuming a 3.5% annual yield paid in additional gold and fully reinvested, would have grown to nearly $79,000.

More than twice the ending value.

The annualized difference is only around 1.6 percentage points. Across 55 years, that small edge becomes enormous.

For decades, gold gave investors price exposure without recurring income. Add yield paid in additional ounces, and every future increase in the gold price applies to a steadily growing gold balance.

That fundamentally expands gold’s role in a portfolio. It can preserve purchasing power while also functioning as a productive reserve asset.

The hard-asset bid is back.

Gold ran to a two-month high near $4,500 before profit-taking pulled it back.

Central bank demand remains a structural source of support. China added roughly 20 tonnes in July, its 21st straight month of purchases.

Silver climbed above $66 before slipping back toward $65. It remains up more than 10% over the past month, keeping the broader trend positive.

Copper cooled from recent records to around $6.57 per pound. Softer Chinese demand weighed on the move, with the Yangshan premium falling to $96 a tonne.

Supply remains tight. Chile lowered its 2026 production forecast after weaker output from Codelco and other major mines, while US tariff uncertainty continues pulling metal into domestic warehouses. Data-center expansion and electrification add structural demand underneath it all.

Hard assets don’t lie.

In 1912, J.P. Morgan told Congress: "Gold is money. Everything else is credit."

He was talking about counterparty risk, the gap between an asset that stands on its own and one that depends on someone else's promise. Stellar was built to close that same gap for everything else, settling real-world assets onchain without a middleman standing between you and your money.

Central banks bought over 1,000 tonnes of gold in 2024, the third straight year above that mark. Global trading volumes averaged $361 billion a day in 2025 across OTC markets, exchanges, and ETFs. The SP500 is holding near last week’s record high. Reports of progress toward reopening the Strait of Hormuz have pulled oil back from Tuesday’s peak, although prices remain elevated and inflation concerns persist ahead of Wednesday’s CPI print.

Equities remain resilient near record territory.

Onchain dollars have yet to follow.

As of August 11, stablecoin market cap stood at $298.02B, down just 0.75% over 30 days. Holding addresses grew 3.60% to 282.80M, while monthly transfer volume fell 26.76% to $4.75T and active addresses declined 2.32% to 53.02M.

More holders. Less movement.

The stablecoin base remained broadly intact while transactional activity cooled.

Equities are pricing renewed optimism. Onchain liquidity remains cautious.

Gold runs on four demand engines: jewellery, technology, investment, and central bank reserves.

That is why it behaves differently across cycles. In expansion, consumer and industrial demand carry it. In uncertainty, investment flows and reserve accumulation take over.
