Latest update on taxes 5/7/2026
Based on the most recent information I consulted from tax officers and a few influential brothers/sisters with deep knowledge of economic law, I’ve summarized it below for everyone’s reference.
Basically - from 01/07/2026 all transactions on international exchanges will be subject to a 0.1% tax. This includes spot, futures, and even swap alpha orders. No exceptions.
Regarding implementation in practice:
1. International exchanges do not withhold taxes → the government cannot collect this tax at that stage.
2. Exchanges do not provide user data → the government cannot accurately scan transaction data for each individual.
Because the data volume is huge, the current tax authority cannot automatically retroactively collect, so they will scan at the final step when cashing out to the bank to trace the flow of funds.
The key point to note is that taxes will still be collected based on transaction history, not a 0.1% tax on the amount of cash out. Many people are intentionally misunderstanding this point.
- Risks: if you are traced or if exchanges “turn you in” when joining Vietnam, they may provide transaction history from 01/07 → tax notices will likely reach each household/individual.
At present, the final decision belongs to the tax authority. Personally, given the current technical and staffing capacity, tax collection in practice is essentially infeasible. It’s common for Vietnam to pass laws but not be able to enforce them—however, it’s also not ruled out that risks may arise if you get traced, along with penalties for tax evasion. Especially for those of you with large daily trading volume.
I will update the situation as more information becomes available.

Basically, according to the latest information I’ve found, there is still no official VN exchange that has been approved/confirmed.
But the rule is the rule: if you trade on a foreign exchange, you have to declare and pay personal income tax yourself.
Especially because it’s very tedious, time-consuming, and labor-intensive. You’ll naturally have to learn Excel, manually download and compile statements, and produce a report so the tax office can read and understand it. The funniest part is: when the brothers/colleagues compile the final version, the tax authority doesn’t have the authority to “check” whether it’s “perfect as-is” or not. Everything is based on the spirit of self-compliance “on one’s own initiative.”
I know it’s a tasty piece of cake, but without actual capacity, people still want to grab a huge slice. The law is big but vague. When you go to the tax office asking for guidance on how to declare, the officers just get slow and say, “there’s no specific guiding document from higher-ups yet” 🤣🤣
For spot or FT folks, this is still kind of manageable, just accept it as simple. But for airdrop people, and for those hunting Alpha Loop volume rewards—it’s a nightmare.
Just as simple as this: my average alpha volume is 250k$ per day, so rough tax would be about $250/day. Selling a house won’t be enough to pay the tax.
