🔦✨ Spotlight on: Polkadot 2.0
Polkadot 2.0 is designed to enhance the scalability, flexibility, and efficiency of the Polkadot network. Learn how 👇
Polkadot 2.0? What's that?
Polkadot's decentralization transcends the protocol and extends to governance and operations, including marketing. The community coined the term Polkadot 2.0.
DOT holders recently voted to pass @alice_und_bob's Referenda #747, which defines Polkadot 2.0 as the next runtime upgrade, which includes Agile Coretime, Async Backing, and Elastic Scaling.
Each of these features plays a crucial role in advancing Polkadot’s mission to provide a robust platform for decentralized applications.
1. Asynchronous Backing 🔀
Boosts Polkadot’s parachain throughput and efficiency by allowing collators to build blocks on older Relay Chain blocks, creating pipelines of multiple pending blocks. This decoupling improves performance by up to 10x when combined with PoV (Proof-of-Validity) reclaim, and enables parachains to produce blocks every six seconds instead of 12, with 4x bigger blocks.
Benefits:
⏩ Higher Transaction Volumes: Supports high-throughput parachains like gaming platforms
⚙️ Optimized Consensus: Enhances efficiency without compromising security
🌐 Greater Flexibility: Parachains can handle more transactions and operations simultaneously
2. Elastic Scaling ⚙️
Allows parachains to scale dynamically based on their needs by using multiple cores per parachain, enabling higher throughput and faster transaction processing. With Agile Coretime integration, parachains can lease additional cores on short notice for varying durations. This approach offers cost-effective scaling, allowing applications to purchasing only the coretime they need.
Benefits:
🛠️ Flexible Resource Allocation: Projects can adjust their resource usage based on real-time needs
⚡ Improved Performance: Higher throughput for dapps, especially during peak usage times
✨ Reduces overall costs by avoiding the need to over-purchase coretime
3. Agile Coretime 🔧
Dynamic and flexible resource management by allocating coretime on a rental basis, eliminating the need for long-term slot auctions. Coretime can be purchased on-demand or in bulk up to 28 days in advance, and secondary markets allow for reselling unused coretime.
Benefits:
🔓 Lower entry barriers for new projects to build on Polkadot
📈 Adaptable Scaling: Supports both early-stage projects and large-scale enterprises
Polkadot 2.0 - Why it matters 💡
👩💻 For Developers: Offers a more adaptable and cost-effective environment for building decentralized applications
🏢 For Enterprises: Provides the scalability needed to handle large volumes of transactions and users
🌐 For the Ecosystem: Encourages broader adoption and innovation within the Web3 space
Polkadot 2.0 ensures that the network can efficiently support a wide range of applications, from early-stage projects to high-demand platforms, paving the way for the next wave of Web3 adoption and innovation.
The Polkadot Community has voted to significantly enhance the DeFi experience in the ecosystem, and will allocate 2M DOT from the treasury to a leading liquidity protocol: @hydration_net
Everything you need to know about the Hydration Campaign 👇
Hydration aims to simplify and make DeFi accessible by integrating swaps, lending, and a stablecoin currency within a single, scalable appchain 🔄
OpenGov referendum #560 & #561 allocate the 2M DOT to fuel the Hydration liquidity protocol:
🔹 1M DOT to fund liquidity mining (LM) incentives for users providing liquidity in the Omnipool, Hydration's flagship AMM.
🔹 1M DOT used for liquidity in the Omnipool. The DOT is used in a decentralized and non-custodial manner, with the funds remaining under the control of the Polkadot Protocol and OpenGov.
👌 Ease of Use
The campaign supports a variety of assets including DOT, USDC, USDT, iBTC, and over eight other Polkadot ecosystem assets. Don't have any? Use the Cross Chain UI to easily move liquidity from Ethereum onto Hydration with just 1-click 🔀
Plus, single-sided liquidity provisioning allows participants to enter the Omnipool with just one asset ✅
🦊 Wallet & Gas Flexibility
No need for a specific Polkadot wallet... Hydration supports popular wallets like Metamask and Ledger. And gas can be paid in any asset!

For decades, private companies have controlled social networks, creating walled gardens of data and acting as gatekeepers of our interactions.
@one_frequency is here to change that, reclaiming social networks from corporate control. Here's how 👇 ⏱️ Time for a Reset
In the Web 2.0 era, social networks captured massive data, profiting from it while users lost control over their online presence. This led to a toxic cycle of growth hacking, greed, and rampant disinformation. It's time for a new model—a decentralized, user-controlled infrastructure for social interactions.
Frequency enables ownership of digital identity and control over online presence, ensuring the portability of content and safeguarding privacy.
❓ What is Frequency?
Frequency is a Layer 1 blockchain providing the essential infrastructure to create next-gen social networking apps. It is the first implementation of the Decentralized Social Networking Protocol (DSNP), backed by Project Liberty and its visionary founder, Frank McCourt.
Frequency empowers users by offering:
🔗 Scalable Message Discovery: Operates at a global scale, ensuring seamless communication.
🗃️ Flexible State Storage: Manages social graph and identity data efficiently.
🔄 Primitives for Cost-Shifting and Delegation: Allows intuitive user experiences while maintaining control over personal data and online relationships.
💡 Understanding the Social Graph
In social media, your social graph represents all your connections—followers, friends, and channels you follow. Traditional platforms trap users by not allowing them to move their social graph to another platform. DSNP users, however, can take their relationships and content from one DSNP app to another, providing true freedom and choice. ⚙️ Core Tech: DSNP
The Decentralized Social Networking Protocol (DSNP) is an open protocol designed to give users control over their relationships and data, free from financial incentives or corporate ownership.
🔗 Reclaim Control: DSNP allows users to take back their social graph—representing all their online connections—and move it across platforms without losing their data or relationships.
🔒 User Privacy: Unlike traditional social media, DSNP ensures that users know how their data is used and gives them control over it.
🤝 Open Protocols: DSNP is an open standard, much like email protocols, allowing developers to create new features and interfaces without fear of being shut out by dominant platforms.
🌐 Real-World Impact
@MeWe, a social network with millions of users, has already migrated to DSNP over the Frequency blockchain. This transition empowers users with privacy and control while offering future options for decentralized governance.
📲 Frank McCourt’s Bid for TikTok
Frank McCourt, Founder of Project Liberty, has announced a bid to acquire TikTok in the U.S., aiming to place people and data empowerment at the center of the platform’s design by migrating TikTok to DSNP.
The goal is to preserve and enhance the TikTok experience while empowering users to control their data and online identities.
⛓️ DeSoc
Decentralized social media (DeSoc) is revolutionizing how we interact online by putting control back in the hands of users and creators. Frequency is at the forefront of this movement, providing the essential infrastructure for a more open, inclusive, and user-centric web.
