🚔 Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs: Fraudsters have started using the digital ruble
Fraudsters send mailings on behalf of the Central Bank, claiming in the letter that cash and non-cash rubles have become an outdated format. All savings urgently need to be exchanged for digital rubles by transferring the funds, the attackers convince, to a special account - otherwise, otherwise, all the money in the bank account will disappear.
The Department for organizing the fight against illegal use of information and communication technologies of the Ministry of Internal Affairs issued a warning: the digital ruble does not replace cash and non-cash money, and offers to exchange rubles and transfer them to a special account from Russian banks are not and cannot be received.
In 2023, the State Duma adopted a law providing for the integration of the digital ruble into the system of tax regulation and control. It is expected that from 2025 the digital ruble can be used to pay for goods and services.
Earlier, the State Duma began considering a bill according to which the law “On Combating the Legalization (Laundering) of Income” will apply to transactions with the digital ruble.
