The hacker who hacked the Poloniex exchange in November 2023 transferred 1,100 Ether (ETH) to the sanctioned crypto mixer Tornado Cash. 😱 The hacker sent Ether in batches while holding over $180 million in assets across different blockchains.

The Poloniex hacker split 100 ETH into 11 batches and transferred a total of 1,100 ETH (worth about $3.37 million) and two more batches of 10 ETH (worth about $61,400) to Tornado Cash within four hours on May 7.

The hacker's portfolio currently holds $181.3 million worth of assets, including Ether, TRX, Bitcoin (BTC), BTCT and Floki, with Ether making up the largest amount at 25,563 ETH.

This news shows that Tornado Cash is still being used by malicious actors. 🕵️‍♀️ According to the US Treasury Department, the crypto mixer has been used to launder stolen funds by cybercriminals such as North Korea's Lazarus Group.
