The Russian earned 357 million tenge from trading bitcoins and received a prison sentence in Kazakhstan
In Kostanay, a criminal case was considered against a Russian citizen who was involved in cryptocurrency trading, Zakon.kz reports.
The court found that from July 2020 to June 2022, the defendant, while in Tobol, was engaged in the “circulation of unsecured digital assets.”
In court, the prosecutor asked to impose a sentence of imprisonment for a period of two years and six months, serving the sentence in a minimum security institution with deprivation of the right to engage in activities related to the circulation of unsecured digital assets and non-cash foreign currency for a period of 10 years, with confiscation of property, and also satisfy the civil claim for the benefit of the state.
