US President Joe Biden has signed a controversial law expanding the government's surveillance powers. Critics fear it could seriously threaten Americans' privacy. 🕵️‍♂️

On April 20, the US Senate voted to pass a bill that would redefine and extend Section 702 of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) for two years.

The bill received strong opposition from privacy-conscious Republicans and Democrats but passed the House of Representatives on April 13.

Now that the law has been signed into law by President Biden, the US government will be able to significantly expand its surveillance powers.
