Golden Finance reported that the enforcement division of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) recommended that the SEC sue the cryptocurrency exchange Bittrex for alleged violations of investor protection laws. Bittrex's general counsel David Maria said that the enforcement division informed Bittrex of possible actions by the SEC in March. In a Wells Notice issued to Bittrex, the SEC stated that Bittrex violated the law by operating as an exchange, broker-dealer, and bill exchange without registering with regulators. It was previously reported that Bittrex U.S., the U.S. platform of the crypto exchange Bittrex, will end its operations in the United States on April 30. Bittrex said the main reason was the continued regulatory uncertainty and the lack of interest of U.S. regulators in policies to promote innovation and enhance the U.S. economy.
