After a bloody week that hit the market due to the Binance attack that stole $6.3 billion, today, November 1, 2026, the entire market is in the red and hesitant—except for one coin that broke the mold and climbed +19.5% to reach $3.18–$3.20: the $LIT Lighter platform token. Why this one in particular?
First: What exactly is Lighter?
Lighter is not a meme coin. It’s a decentralized exchange for Perpetual Futures, built as a dedicated Layer 2 on Ethereum using ZK-Rollup technology (zero-knowledge proofs).
The idea is simple: trade leveraged contracts of up to 50x without handing your money over to a centralized platform. The engine executes your orders off-chain at high speed, then proves everything is valid on Ethereum using a ZK-SNARK mathematical proof. Even if the platform’s server goes down, you can withdraw your funds through an emergency exit on Ethereum.
Founded by Vladimir Novakovski in 2022, the operating company is called Elliot Technologies and is based in Delaware, USA. It raised $68 million in November 2025 at a $1.5 billion valuation, backed by Founders Fund and Robinhood Ventures.
Second: LIT token by the numbers
- Launch date: December 30, 2025
- Price today: $3.18 (+5.25% today alone, but it gained as much as +19.5% during the day’s high, rising from $2.69 to $3.20)
- Market cap: around $778 million — ranked 112th
- Trading volume: $91 million in 24 hours
- Circulating supply: 250 million out of a maximum of 1 billion (just 25%)
- All-time high: $7.86 — meaning it’s still 60% below its peak
Third: Why did it explode today? Three catalysts
1. CFTC license filing in the works:
On an investor call on October 21, Lighter announced that it would apply for two US licenses in November 2026: a DCM (Designated Contract Market) and a DCO (Derivatives Clearing Organization). If approved, it would be the first licensed decentralized perpetual exchange in the US. This is the same news that drove it up +20% on October 21 to $3.90, and today the market is remembering the deadline.
2. Robinhood integration:
On July 1, 2026, Robinhood launched Robinhood Chain and integrated Lighter for perpetual trading under a 50/50 revenue-sharing arrangement. Any trading through the Robinhood wallet earns multiplied points in LIT. The company allocated 11 million LIT for incentives. This opened the door to Robinhood’s 24 million users on the platform.
3. A rare economic model: 100% of revenue goes to burns:
Lighter generated $57 million in revenue last year, and every dollar goes toward buying LIT on the market and burning it forever. In July, 15.5 million LIT were burned (6.3% of the circulating supply). This creates constant buying pressure.
Fourth: The risk no one is talking about
Today’s star could be tomorrow’s downfall. On December 27, 2026, in less than two months, the unlock of 500 million LIT held by early investors and the team will begin, spread over three years. That means the supply will triple. The price is rising today on excitement about the license, but the whales know the unlock is coming.
The platform is also currently unavailable to US users until it obtains a license, and approval could take 280 days under CFTC rules.
Bottom line
LIT today is more than just speculation. It’s a bet on two major trends in 2026–2027: turning decentralized exchanges into licensed exchanges, and turning platform revenue into value for the token through burns.
Will it keep going? If the CFTC filing is actually submitted this month as the team promised, we could see $4 again. If it’s delayed, the 500 million token unlock in December will put heavy pressure on the price.
This isn’t investment advice, but as an observer: Lighter is the only platform that has managed to combine the speed of a centralized exchange with Ethereum’s security, which is why Robinhood chose it.
