Choosing the wrong bank when trading P2P in Venezuela can cost more than waiting for the market to move. This article is a tutorial on a safe procedure for comparing the spread by bank using the bank comparison tool and the order book, with data captured on October 31, 2026, at 10:00 (Venezuela time) by PitbullChain's P2P Radar.

📊 What it means to compare spreads by bank (and what it doesn't)

The spread is the difference between the price at which you can buy USDT and the price at which you can sell it at the same moment. Comparing "by bank" answers a practical question: how much does the offer price change depending on the payment method I plan to use?

Market data: the Radar showed USDT at Bs. 1,025.3777 as a buy reference and Bs. 972.866 as a sell reference. That gives a spread of Bs. 52.51 (5.40%) and a 15.27% premium over the BCV rate, which was Bs. 889.5754. The P2P traffic light was yellow, with 65 points and the label "Moderate caution."

Important clarification: that aggregated reference is not the price you'll execute at. The order book showed a best ask of Bs. 996 and a best bid of Bs. 995, a spread of Bs. 1 (0.10%). These are two different measures. If you build your budget using the Radar reference (Bs. 1,025.3777) instead of the best ask (Bs. 996), you'll overestimate the cost by around 2.95%.

📈 Step 1: set the reference before looking at banks

• Check the P2P traffic light to understand the day's context. If it's yellow, the takeaway is simple: compare before trading.

• Open the order book and note the best ask and best bid, the amount available at each level, and the associated banks.

• Note the day's BCV rate as an external reference, not as a trading price.

• Only then open the bank comparison tool. If you open it first, the average will bias your reading.

🔎 Step 2: use the bank comparison tool thoughtfully

These are the averages shown by the comparison tool in the screenshot. The prices are averages of published offers, not executable prices:

Bank or payment method Offers Avg. USDT buy price (Bs.) Avg. USDT sell price (Bs.) Spread (Bs.) Spread (%)

Pago Móvil (via other platforms) 36 1,161.30 986.30 175.00 17.74%

Banesco 23 1,105.30 985.45 119.85 12.16%

Mercantil 8 998.83 988.39 10.44 1.06%

Banco de Venezuela 14 999.36 988.55 10.80 1.09%

BANK 10 999.60 986.29 13.31 1.35%

PagoMovil (via Binance) 6 999.78 1,000.00 0.22 0.02%

Two reading caveats. First: averages based on few offers are easily distorted; a single listing with a high limit can shift the average for the whole bank. Second: Pago Móvil is not a bank, but a payment method, and it appears under two different entries ("Pago Móvil" and "PagoMovil") depending on the source exchange. That duplicates the data and can be confusing if you don't notice it.

💰 Step 3: go to the order book and compare the actual offer

The comparison tool tells you where to look; the order book tells you what you can take. In the screenshot, the cheapest ask was Bs. 996 (Bancamiga, BNC, Banco del Tesoro, and Banco Plaza) with 2,679.21 USDT available. The cheapest Mercantil offer was Bs. 996.99 with 1,495.60 USDT, and the cheapest Pago Móvil offer was Bs. 999.49 with 5,267.21 USDT.

In other words: buying with Pago Móvil cost Bs. 2.50 more per USDT than the best Mercantil offer (0.25%). For 500 USDT, the difference is around Bs. 1,250. It's not a dramatic amount, but it's money lost simply by not comparing.

The sharpest contrast appears at the extremes of the order book: there were Pago Móvil offers at Bs. 1,029.70 and Bs. 1,029.80 with limits of just 516 USDT. Compared with Bs. 996, that's Bs. 33.70 per USDT (3.38%), or nearly Bs. 16,850 on a 500 USDT transaction. That's the typical extra cost of taking the first offer you see on the list.

🛡️ Step 4: check limits, depth, and reputation

• Limits: each level has its own minimum and maximum. The Bs. 996 level listed a maximum of 2,679.21, and the Bs. 999 level listed a minimum of Bs. 6,902.13. Check the interface to see whether the amount is expressed in bolívares or USDT before assuming you can take the entire offer.
