WORPT connects stablecoins to QR payments in Thailand: merchants receive baht

In a statement dated October 26, 2026, Waan Exchange and WiPay announced that WORPT is available to foreign tourists. The app converts USDT and USDC to Thai baht (THB) for payments via Thai QR PromptPay. Merchants receive THB.

The service operates within TouristDigiPay, a regulated sandbox. Thailand’s SEC lists Waan Exchange among its participants; this does not amount to general authorization to pay directly with cryptocurrencies.

WORPT’s website specifies USDT and USDC on Ethereum (ERC20), identity verification, and a 1.5% conversion fee, including VAT. These are product terms, not Binance fees.

The official event is scheduled for November. According to the statement, the prepaid physical Visa card is planned for mid-November and the virtual card for early 2027: these should not be confused with the announced availability of QR payments.

Market reference: on October 27 at 15:55 UTC, 1 USDC traded for 1.00122 USDT on Binance Spot, down 0.007% over 24 hours. That quote is not WORPT’s exchange rate to baht.

My take: its usefulness will depend on actual adoption and the total cost. The close price relationship between stablecoins does not eliminate the risk of losing their peg, custody risks, or fluctuations in the baht exchange rate. More payment apps also do not imply an increase in ETH’s value.
